Interior of Jupiter and giant planets - a new vision brought by Juno

Since July 2016, Juno has collected a wealth of data on its orbit around Jupiter. These data range from millimeter wavelength surveys of the atmosphere of the planet to magnetic field observations, with notably measurements of the gravitational field. The remarkable accuracy on the gravitational field data has allowed to constrain more precisely the internal structure of the planet. In this talk, I will show how Juno has improved our knowledge of the interior of Jupiter, combined with recent advances in the theoretical and numerical understanding of the behaviour of hydrogen, helium and some metals at very high pressure ("warm dense matter"). I will present the first models of the structure of Jupiter that satisfy all the observational data. These models imply two major novelties regarding the structure of Jupiter: the presence of an extended diluted core, and a decoupling between the outer and the inner envelopes in terms of composition. I will finally discuss how these models apply to Saturn and giant planets in the galaxy, and whether they can be considered as a template for giant gaseous planets' structure.
